Volkswagen Guarantee The Jobs of 100,000 Workers In Germany
Volkswagen said Tuesday it has agreed to guarantee the jobs of 100,000 workers in Germany until the end of 2014.
“In return for an agreement with the German trade union IG Metall strong, firm and employee representatives affirmed their commitment to work together to improve productivity,” the statement said.
A “component of remuneration related to performance” also agreed, because hiring workers based on how well they did during the training period.
The agreement covers 100,000 workers and extend a previous job guarantees until 2011 at the Volkswagen factory and the financing division of Europe’s biggest car manufacturer.
“Workers have jobs that are safe, motivated and ready to contribute to increased productivity. That is the basis of the success of Volkswagen,” Harmut Meine, IG Metall officials who negotiated the deal, said in a separate statement. source: Antara
